Parent involvement can affect a child's attitude and motivation toward school.
Stick to Routines - Having your child stick to their routine can create a sense of stability. Creating a routine can make children feel confident and secure. Daily routines can minimize anxiety and frustration. An example of a great routine would include: morning stretch, getting ready for the day, cleaning up and organizing student's work area, eating a healthy breakfast and hydrating.
Open Conversations About Class- Connecting with your child about their day. Not just what is due, asking your child how they felt, what part of their lesson was their favorite today, what would they change? Bringing attention to your child's self-awareness is important. Allowing your child to discuss what they can control can create self independence.
Supporting Student Strengths- Recognize and encourage your child's strengths. Emphasizing your child's strengths and helping him or her develop an area of interest will build self-esteem and keep your child motivated.
