Vocalists in the program receive a grade for each choir they sing with. This grade is made up of three categories: Citizenship, Vocal Work, and Written Work.
50%: “Citizenship”
This score out of 100 points will reflect a students' participation in, attitude about, and approach to learning. A 95/100 indicates that students are meeting expectations. A higher score can be earned by participating verbally, assisting another singer, demonstrating effective effort, taking risks, and being a good digital citizen. The score can be lowered if students do not meet these expectations.
25%: “Vocal Work”
Students will be assessed on singing parts of assigned music and/or performing sight reading exercises. This will be turned in via video or through SightReadingFactory.com.
25%: “Written Work”
Students will be graded on written work; sometimes completed during class or for homework. These may include worksheets, digital practice/assessments, lyric or language study, and journal reflections.
Students with special circumstances may be moved to a Pass/Fail system of grading, per request of the student, teacher, parent, or NHS administration. The final decision belongs to the director, unless ordered by the principal.
Although Choir is a class, we are also a team, and there are commitments outside of the school day. These activities are:

Competitions
Sporting events
Other school events (Class Night, Open House, Step Up Night, etc.)

Our concerts are in October, December, January, and April. Students can earn a grade of A+ for attendance, proper attire, and effective effort.
There is a tech/dress rehearsal before each of these concerts, immediately after school, or at night, depending on certain circumstances. Students can earn a grade of A+ for attendance, proper attire, and effective effort.
