Vo-tech is available to students starting in their 10th grade year; interested students must apply during the course selection process during the prior year.
Students who attend Vo-tech spend approximately half of their school day there, taking only their core academic subjects (English, Math, Sci, and Social Studies) at the high school. Students receive credit for attending Vo-tech and follow graduation requirements on the Career/Technical Pathway toward graduation.
Vocational training provides students with opportunities to earn industry certifications, articulated credits, dual enrollment classes, work-based learning experiences and an end-of-program assessment.
Vocational education and training is essential to helping to fill our skilled career shortages in the workforce and BAVTS' co-op program can lead to full time employment after graduation.
Vo-tech does not eliminate the possibility of attending college! Many of our BAVTS students continue on to post-secondary education and training.
Visit the BAVTS website and determine which shops are of interest; students must choose 8 shops on the application, listing them in order of preference. During the first marking period of attendance, students will get to rotate through 4 of those shops to sample them before choosing a permanent shop placement.
