ir + a + infinitive

Translated as "going to ____", you will often use ir + a + infinitive when speaking (as opposed to writing) since it is less formal than the other future conjugation.

You will mostly use this in the present tense, although it is often used in the imperfect when you want to say you "were going to do something".
