Mrs. Sara Williams has been teaching at Normal Community West High School since 2000. During her first years at West, Sara was also the director of the 7th and 8th grade choirs at Parkside Junior High School as well as the PJHS Jazz Choir. Currently, Sara is the director of the NCWHS Chamber Choir, Chorale, Concert Choir, Madrigals, NCWHS Jazz Voices, Colla Voce, and also teaches AP Music Theory and Theory II at NCHS and at West. Sara is actively involved in the West Musicals as a vocal coach and support staff.
Sara is very active with the ILMEA District 3 Vocal Jazz Ensemble. She has been instrumental in organizing jazz clinics, a guest clinician for area festivals, and has appeared as a guest performer with big bands and combos in Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois.
Mrs. Williams has taught in Wisconsin for 1 year, Indiana for 3 years, and Illinois for 29 years.
Sara is a graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. She graduated with honors earning a Bachelor of Music Degree. While at DePauw, she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Education Fraternity, and Mu Phi Epsilon Professional Music Fraternity.
Sara, and her twins, Clara and Parker, reside in Bloomington. Sara loves to teach vocal music and theory. She feels privileged to share music each day with the students in Unit 5. She is a recent widow of the late Steven R. Williams.
