Objective: To raise awareness about global health in your local community.
Directions:
- With your parents’ permission, go out on a walk and hunt for rocks. The best rocks for this activity are ones that have a flat side or are flat on two sides.
- Clean and brush off the rocks. Let them dry.
- Why rocks are drying, look up some statistics or facts about global health and pandemics you might want to share with your neighborhood. Start HERE for inspiration.
- Once rocks are dry, gather markers, paint, or crayons and decorate the rocks with slogans, pictures, and statistics about human rights. Need help? Here are some rock painting tutorials.
- Once rocks have dried (if you used paint), go out on another walk and place the rocks around the neighborhood in places that they might be discovered like lawns, edges of sidewalks, and at the bottom of trees. Take your parents or siblings with you to teach them what you are learning!
- Celebrate raising awareness about global health in your community by taking pictures of the rocks you placed! Post them to social media (with parent permission) with the hashtag #awarenessrocks and tag @tustinmun, or email them to Mrs. Zechiel (ezechiel@tustin.k12.ca.us).
- See below for some examples of awareness rocks for inspiration!
