EXTENSION ACTIVITY

ACTIVITY OBJECTIVE: Choose ONE action that you can take to raise awareness about global issues in the local, national, or global community.

Choose One:

Write a letter/email to a politician! Letters like this should follow a specific structure; first introduce yourself, then explain your opinion, and finally provide a call to action (what do you want the politician to do?). Here are some suggestions for who you can write, and links to their online contact forms:

- - The President
  - Senator Kamala Harris
  - Senator Diane Feinstein
  - Your state representative (you can find out who that is based on your zip code here)

Create a digital poster about the issue to post to social media (with parent permission). Make sure to explain:

- - WHAT is the problem?
  - WHY is it a problem?
  - HOW can young people help?

You can use the following tools to make your poster or video:

- - google drawings
  - postermywall
  - Piktochart
  - Canva

With parent permission, post your image on social media. If you use instagram, please tag @tustinmun and use the hashtag #activisminaction

Learn about young change makers who have made a difference in fighting for justice and human rights. Share their stories and videos with friends and family. Here are some videos to get you started:

Protect wildlife by doing a simple nature craft!

Choose something else from "The Lazy Person's Guide to Saving the World" published by the UN. There are different levels of involvement based on how lazy you feel!
