Two early intervention providers (i.e. early intervention teacher, speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, and/or physical therapist) will come to your home. During this visit, we will go through required paperwork, talk with you about your child's strengths and any concerns your may be having regarding your child's development, as well as, observe them in your home. Most of the developmental information will be gathered through your report, questions, concerns, and throughout the discussion, not through working one-on-one with your child, as we understand that we are unfamiliar adults to your child. Your child does not need to be ready to perform for us in any way because we want to see him in a natural environment during his natural routines including play, care routines, etc. Please see the Guidelines for Early Intervention Screenings for additional information!
Likely attached to your screening email you will find a Prior Written Notice (PWN). The PWN is a consent form that states what the district is planning to do during the developmental screening process, why we are conducting the screening, and what information we will gather. We will not proceed without your consent. Your providers will bring a hard copy for you to sign to our scheduled visit, as well as, a copy for your records. Another likely document attached to your screening email is the Part C Procedural Safeguards. This document outlines your rights in this process and beyond. This document will also be provided to you during your scheduled visit.
Our team provides early intervention screenings in your home because we believe that your child learns and responds best to unfamiliar adults in the comfort of their own home with their caregivers by their side! Cleaning up your home is not expected what-so-ever. Our team knows that life with young ones is busy, unpredictable, and messy. Leave your home "as-is." We promise our team comes with no judgments.
The EI Team is committed to supporting your family throughout your early intervention screening experience & beyond! Here are some guidelines we ask families to follow in order to ensure for a positive experience:
-Notify the service provider working with your family via phone call, text message, or email if you need to cancel the screening for any reason. This may include sickness in the home, unexpected life events, or, simply, not feeling up for visitors that day. The team will work with your family to reschedule based on the circumstances without judgement!
-Be actively involved throughout the screening! Ask questions, there is no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your child! We are here to support you!
-In order to get the most engaging interactions during our visit, please reduce distractions (television, radio, pets) as much as possible.

-Take care of your child's hygiene needs during the visit including diaper changes, runny noses, sticky hands, etc. These moments allow for natural observation opportunities for our team!
-Due to allergies on the team, please keep pets in another room or area of the home and refrain from smoking during the visit.
