Our team provides early intervention visits and services in your home, or other natural learning environments for your child, such as the library, a store, daycare, an ECFE class, or the park, because we believe that children and their families learn best when surrounded by people, places, and community activities they would be involved in with one another with or without receiving our services.
The EI team's vision is to work alongside you, as you are the expert on your child. Our role for your family is determined by the team, as a whole, with you leading the way. We strive to individualize each families' experience when receiving our services. Typically, The EI team observes your family during everyday routines and provides support through coaching, collaboration, and consultation to increase your confidence in improving your child’s skills, abilities, and overall development. Intervention happens between visits when your family continues the work started during visits. Our EI team will help you to identify learning opportunities and ways to imbed strategies in your everyday activities and routines. Research shows that children learn best during everyday activities with the important people in their lives. Learning within everyday routines, activities and places allows children to learn skills in practical and meaningful ways. We will ask you to actively participate in your visits, engaging in the activities with your service provider and child, discussing difficult situations, routines, or circumstances your family may be encountering, and practicing the strategies you feel would work best in supporting your family's outcomes.
The EI Team is committed to supporting your family throughout your time receiving our services. Some things to remember in order to get the most out of each visit include:
Be actively involved during visits
Notify the service provider working with your family via phone call, text message, or email if you need to cancel an upcoming visit for any reason. This may include sickness in the home, unexpected life events, or, simply, not feeling up for visitors that day. The team will work with your family to reschedule based on the circumstances without judgement!
In order to get the most engaging interactions during our visit, please reduce distractions (television, radio, pets) as much as possible.
Cleaning up your home is not expected what-so-ever. Our team knows that life with young ones is busy, unpredictable, and messy. Leave your home "as-is." We promise our team comes with no judgements.
Take care of your child's hygiene needs during the visit including diaper changes, runny noses, sticky hands, etc. These moments allow for learning opportunities and are part of your child's daily life!
Due to allergies on the team, please keep pets in another room or area of the home and refrain from smoking during the visit.
Discuss with the service provider the involvement of other important family members during a visit. Older siblings, grandparents, caregivers can all be involved in the team, with your consent and willingness.
The EI team will provide each family the following home visit agreement to review and sign, in order to ensure that everyone is on the same page in regards to home visiting and roles the provider and family plays within those visits: Provider & Family Home Visit Agreement
We understand life happens and illness, whether COVID or the common flu, creeps up without warning! Because we visit many homes and want to avoid spreading germs from one family to another, please inform your service provider if anyone in the home, including siblings, grandparents, or yourself, is ill. We will work with your family to reschedule and can check in via phone calls, texts, or emails while visits are on hold.
