A Pre-Engineering Magnet and IB Middle Years Programme Candidate School
Welcome to the Milwee Middle School Curriculum Guide for 2027-2028. Milwee is a Seminole County Public Schools Pre-Engineering Magnet in Longwood, Florida, and a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme. Use this guide to explore our courses and electives, plan your course selections, and learn how to apply to our magnet program.
Dear Milwee Spartans and Families,
At Milwee, students don't just learn about engineering. They design, build, test, and program real solutions. As a Pre-Engineering Magnet school, we offer hands-on Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Gateway courses and a wide range of Design electives that connect classroom learning to the world beyond it. It's what we mean when we say Milwee is Engineering Your Future.
As a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme, we are also building a curriculum where every student studies Language and Literature, Mathematics, Sciences, and Individuals and Societies each year, along with courses in the Arts, Design, Language Acquisition, and Physical and Health Education. Students can choose standard and advanced coursework, including several courses that earn high school credit.
The mission of Milwee Middle School Pre-Engineering Magnet is to capture and inspire students by improving our teaching techniques to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world, and then reach their full potential as lifelong learners and productive citizens.
This guide describes every course and club we offer for 2027-2028 and walks you through course selection. If you have questions, our counselors and staff are here to help.
And, as always, Spartans Rise!

Milwee Middle School Pre-Engineering Magnet has been named a 2026 Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America (MSA), the national association for magnet and theme-based schools. It is Milwee's ninth national merit award since 2016, including six Magnet School of Excellence awards, MSA's highest merit category.
To earn a merit award, schools submit a detailed application scored by a panel of educators. Applications are judged on a school's ability to raise student achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curriculum and instruction, and build family and community partnerships that strengthen the magnet theme.
This recognition belongs to our teachers, staff, families, and students, whose work brings our magnet mission to life every day.
