THHS GUIDANCE - Course Selection/Registration 2021-22

Freshman,

Thank you for joining your counselors here for your virtual "Classroom" presentations. Typically, every year your counselors will visit your classroom to provide updates and grade-level information. This year, we've put together a 2 part presentation for your convenience.

Please review the information below carefully as you get ready to build your 4-Year Plan.

Part 1: Freshman 101

Join Mrs. Tsang as we quickly review the "ins and outs" of high school. We'll talk about who your counselor is, what's needed to graduate from high school, how to get into college, and general tips and tricks for high school success.

Part 2: Build Your 4-Year Plan

Watch Mrs. Alvarez break down how to develop your 4-Year Plan
Utilize the Google Form to complete your 4-Year Plan (you will be emailed a copy after you submit)
Refer to supplemental docs to help fill out classes in the Google Form

Part 2A (Optional): Attend a 4-Year Plan Workshop

If you are having difficulty completing your 4-Year Plan, please join your counselors during our "4-Year Plan Workshop" with your questions.
You have the option of joining one of two workshop dates:
- Wednesday, February 3rd @ 1:00 PM
- Friday, February 5th @ 1:00 PM
After joining, you will be broken into breakout rooms where you can work with your counselor
- Please have your questions ready!

***We want to emphasize that your 4-Year Plan is NOT registration for next year’s classes but an important step that all freshmen complete in regards to academic planning. Completing this plan will help you plan your academic goals, learn what is required for graduation and/or A-G eligibility, and to provide consistent documentation for you and your guidance team as we help you navigate through your 4 years here at THHS.

Your 4-Year plan will serve as a helpful reference for when you are completing your registration.***

Registration will be available for current Freshmen on February 22nd - March 1st.

Part 2: Build Your 4-Year Plan

Part 2 of your counseling presentation will be putting together your "4-Year Plan." This 4-Year Plan is kind of like your roadmap for all of the classes that you will take during your high school years. This plan is NOT set in stone and can change when you select your courses for each year (so, no stress!). The goal here is to help you develop a template that will help map out your goals for either high school graduation or 4-year college eligibility.

Part 2A (Optional): 4-Year Plan Workshops

These 4-Year Plan workshops are hosted just for you by your THHS counselors.

If you need help completing your 4-Year Plan, please join one of the workshops listed below. During this workshop, you will be broken into breakout rooms with your assigned counselor who can answer your questions regarding your 4-Year Plan.

Before joining the workshop, please attempt to build your 4-Year Plan in the Google Form. Take note of any questions that you may have and bring them to the workshop with you.
To be admitted into the workshop, please make sure that your username on Zoom reflects your FIRST and LAST NAME.
