As-salamu alaykum wa raḥmatullah wa barakatuh dear students,
Welcome to ICS3U – Introduction to Computer Science! I am very excited to begin this journey with you this school year. Together, we will explore how computers work inside and out, learn to program using Java, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and discover the real-world applications of technology. We will also practice problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity as we build projects and prepare for future opportunities in computer science.
This course will take us through:
Computer Hardware & Operating Systems – understanding the brain and heart of the computer.
Web Development & Programming – creating websites and writing code.
Advanced Programming & System Integration – solving problems with logic and algorithms.
Industrial Applications & Careers – exploring real-world uses of computing and future opportunities.
Software Engineering & Project Management – working on exciting projects to showcase your skills.
As Muslims, we approach knowledge as a form of ibadah (worship). The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” \
When we study computers, we are not just learning about machines, we are learning about the gifts Allah has given us: our intellect, our creativity, and the ability to use technology for good. Just like we strive to write clean, correct code, let us also strive to keep our intentions pure and use our knowledge responsibly, always mindful of honesty, teamwork, and benefiting others.
I encourage you all to stay curious, ask questions, and support each other in this course. InshaAllah, with hard work, patience, and sincerity, this year will be a rewarding and successful journey for each of you.
I look forward to seeing your growth, your projects, and your contributions. May Allah bless our time together and guide us to use our knowledge for good.
