Assalamu Alaikum dear students,
Alhamdulillah, we begin a new school year together with excitement and purpose. I am truly honored to guide you in this journey of learning Digital Technology and Programming at Ottawa Islamic School.
This year, you will:
Explore how computers work – from hardware and software to networks and cybersecurity.
Learn about the social, cultural, environmental, and ethical impacts of technology.
Gain programming skills in Python using tools like Visual Studio Code.
Design and build apps to solve real-world problems.
Apply the engineering design process in a final project where you will showcase your creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Along the way, we will use resources like Khan Academy, W3Schools Python, YouTube tutorials, and Kahoot quizzes to make learning interactive and enjoyable. Most assignments and projects will be organized and submitted through Google Classroom.
As Muslims, we remember that knowledge is a form of worship when used to benefit others. Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
“وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا ’” (Surah Taha 20:114)
Together, let us strive to use technology responsibly and ethically — to serve our communities, protect the environment, and bring benefit to the Ummah and humanity at large.
I encourage each of you to work hard, collaborate with kindness, and never fear mistakes — for mistakes are stepping stones to learning. I believe in your potential, and I pray Allah grants you success in this course and beyond.
Let’s make this a year of innovation, responsibility, and excellence. May Allah put barakah in our time and efforts, and may this course help prepare you to be leaders in the digital age.
Bismillah – let’s begin this journey together.
