We’re so excited to have the opportunity to work with your child and watch them continue to learn and grow in 2nd grade at Summit Elementary!

In second grade, we work collaboratively as a team to nurture the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. Students develop leadership skills through the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids and emotional skills with Conscious Discipline. Second graders build strong reading foundations with explicit and systematic phonics instruction with differentiated Fundations instruction, and grow their curiosity and background knowledge through our ELA resource Wit & Wisdom. In math, they deepen their understanding of how numbers work with Eureka², while exploring the world around them through engaging science and social studies experiences. In addition, we share students throughout our grade-level for differentiated instruction. Our classrooms are designed to spark curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
