Each Wednesday morning, we will assess student eligibility to ensure that all participants in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities meet the academic standards established by our district and the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA). Grades for middle level school students participating in co-curricular & extra-curricular sports & activities will be checked weekly on Wednesday after the first full week of each quarter, the beginning of a new school year, and each subsequent quarter.
● Good Academic Standing describes middle-level students with no failing grades on the weekly Wednesday activities eligibility grade check report.
● Academic Warning is a middle-level student with one week of failing grades on the weekly Wednesday activities eligibility grade check report. Students may practice, participate in competition, and travel.
● Academic Ineligibility is a middle-level student with two or more consecutive weeks of failing grades on the weekly Wednesday activities eligibility grade check report. Students may practice but they cannot participate in competitions or travel. Academic Support Available: We understand that balancing academics and athletics can be challenging, and we are here to support our students every step of the way. ● Teachers are available each morning starting at 7:30 a.m. to assist students with their academic work.
● We offer extended sessions known as Bridges, running from 2:55 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for students needing additional assistance.
● Attendance/Behavior
○ Athletes must actively engage in the sport or activity.
○ Athletes need 8 practices before competing. Coaches will make final judgement on readiness before having them compete.
○ Athletes must consistently participate in practice in order to compete.
○ If athletes miss practice the day before a competition, they will not be allowed to compete in that meet/game.
○ Athletes are expected to adhere to all school rules and regulations before, during, and after practice.
○ Athlete behavior can impact their participation in games/competitions.
○ Students must be at school at least half day in order to compete that day.
● 8th Grade Boys Basketball: Monday and Tuesday 3:00 - 4:30 Wednesday 3:00 - 4:00
● 7th Grade Boys Basketball: Monday and Tuesday 4:30 - 6:30 Wednesday 4:00 - 5:30
○ After the first three days, practice times may change due to team selection
● *Nordic Ski: Monday through Thursday from 3:00 - 5:00 (Bus will transport to Casper Mountain Ski Area and then back to CY)
*Nordic Ski requires students to have their own ski equipment including a set of skate skis, poles, and boots and a set of classic skis, poles, and boots or a set that can be utilized for both types of ski. If you have any questions, please contact one of our ski shops here in town. Athletes will also be required to purchase a Ski Pass which is available through the Natrona County Parks Department.
