If prompted, sign in to your Google account.
All of your messages in Google Chat can be searched. Alternatively, you might look for messages that mention particular individuals or particular content kinds.
Lookup messages in Gmail and Google Chat.
Log into your Gmail or Google Chat account.
Click the "Search all conversations" or "Search in chat and spaces" link at the top.
Type your search term and hit Enter.
Click Chat & Spaces under the search box in Gmail.
Click on a result to make it visible.
All of your messages in Google Chat can be searched. Alternatively, you might look for messages that mention particular individuals or particular content kinds, like photographs.
Point to the message and click Forward to inbox.
Go to your Gmail inbox to view the forwarded messages.
A message from Google Chat can be forwarded to your Gmail inbox. The last four messages in the conversation thread are included in the email. If you later switch off chat history, the messages remain in your inbox.
Google Chat messages can be edited or deleted.
It's important to note that alerts may contain the original message after you change or delete a sent message.
If you don't have the Space Manager position, you cannot edit or remove messages sent by other users. Only in specific Google Workspace account editions are Space Managers able to delete communications from other users.
To turn email notifications for unread messages on or off, under "Email notifications," select Only @mentions & direct messages or Off.
