The nervous system is a system in our body which sends signals throughout the body. It is the body's inner communication system. Various nerve cells make up this system. It allows us to respond to what is around us. Overall the main function of the nervous system with its following fundamental parts listed below, control the body and its communications among its parts.

BRAIN ~

• The brain is part of the CNS. The brain is the command center for the nervous system and controls the things we want to do and our bodily functions such as breathing & digesting food. It receives signals from the body's sensory organs and outputs information to the muscles.
• The brain has 3 major parts :

~ Cerebrum

~ Cerebellum

~ Brain stem

• All the above parts work together and have individual functions.

SPINAL CORD ~

• Part of the CNS
• Made up of bundle of nerve fibers
• Help the brain communicate with different parts of the body
• Coordinate reflexes or quick respnes to outside stimuli
• Pass messages to sensory receptors to the brain
• Relay messages from the brain to numerous other body parts
