People give presents to bring other people happiness and to commemorate the gifts given to Mary. Christmas is a time to get together and celebrate with food, presents, and other traditional activities.
Even though Thanksgiving is a different holiday some people eat similiar foods. Some foods include turkey, ham, and sometimes even duck. You may even eat stuffing. Deserts range from Gingerbread cookies, Yule cake logs, decorated sugar cookies, Christmas fudge, Peppermint bark, and the most popular Christmas Pudding.

Green represents evergreen trees which stay green forever. Red represents Santa's red coat. That's how red and green came to signify Christmas.
Some families open presents on Christmas day while other open them at midnight on Christmas eve. Santa is said to visit while your sleeping and drop presents under your tree. Santa needs a snack on the way so you leave a cookie and some milk out for him to eat.
