Practicing Self-care

For this week’s assignment, you will be practicing self-care in the form of writing. Choose one of the prompts below and complete the prompt at least three times leading up to our next class period. During our next class period, we will have some group discussion about how successful or helpful the self-care activity was.


Choose one of the prompts below:

  • Expressive writing in any form: journaling, narrative writing, poetry, lyric writing, or letters. Any form of writing that is creative!

  • Reflect on your day. Either discuss a positive experience and what made it positive, or a negative event. If you reflect on a negative experience, try to reframe the event and view it in a new perspective.

  • Gratitude-focused writing: this can be a list, a stream of consciousness, a letter, or any other form. Just focus on what you are grateful for throughout the day, in the moment, or in your life.

In our next discussion, be prepared to discuss which prompt you did and the experience you had.
