Wind Ensemble

The FHS Wind Ensemble is the most advanced ensemble on campus. There is a required audition to be considered for entry into this group. It is made up of hard working, enthusiastic students who love music and their instrument. They strive to meet the high expectations of their director, and give exciting performances at all major concerts at FHS. They participate in the Solo and Ensemble concert in the Spring, and any other community event that they are invited to perform at, like the Lynwood Unified Arts Festival.

In the Spring semester each year, they travel to perform for judges at Band Festivals. In May 2019, the Wind Ensemble earned the score of Excellent at the Music in the Parks Festival at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Student leadership plays a huge role in this band. Each section has an assigned leader responsible for running section rehearsals and making sure their section is prepared on any concert music. Student Conductors lead the band in day to day warm ups in class, and are given the chance to conduct a piece of music on a concert.
