A Band Camp typically refers to a high school, college, or university marching band summer camp. Band Camp is mandatory for members of the band, and constitutes the majority of the preparation a marching band makes before its marching season (learning how to march, learning “sets” on the field, memorizing show songs). Our marching band meets at the FHS campus during the summer before school starts. We typically have about two weeks of camp- week one is focused on the drumline and music only, and week two is outdoors on the field learning how to march and setting up our halftime show.
The time at Band Camp is used for focused rehearsals and time for bonding between band members. We have friendly competitions among teams throughout the week to build teamwork and engage new members into the band family, and it is a BLAST! Band camp is a time of building memories that last a lifetime, so don't miss out! Keep scrolling for band camp necessities.
