What is Neglect and Delinquent?
The Lafourche Parish Juvenile Center is divided into two distinct units; Group Home and the Detention Center. Students assigned to the Group Home Unit can be placed as an emergency placement and remain at that facility for a maximum of 102 days to a minimum of one day.
Detention students are assigned by the Judicial System and receive their educational services at the facility by an instructor assigned by the Lafourche Parish School Board.
Coordination of Services between Schools & Juvenile Center:
Participating schools coordinate with the Lafourche Parish Juvenile Justice Center in working with delinquent children and youth in order to ensure that they are participating in an educational program comparable to one operating in the local schools. Teachers at the Juvenile Justice Facility are employed by the Lafourche Parish School Board.
