Reflection - This design was created and influenced by the Art Nouveau period. Art Nouveau is a decorative style of art that was popular between 1890 and 1910. It was most popular in Europe and the United States. Art Nouveau uses "long, sinuous, organic lines" and is used in architecture, interior design, jewelry, illustration, etc. It uses intricate designs with a natural/floral feel. I chose to make a soap package because when I was researching this era I thought it looked like it belonged on a posh/fancy soap. I used a floral ring for the packaging because it used curving, flowing lines which were used in this design period. I also tried to find font that looked posh and was also "elongated" which was also popular for this era. The best name I could think of was "Pristine Pack" and I thought it sounded nice and elegant. I found the design under the name when I originally looked up this design period and I thought it was a nice addition. I added the bar of soap on the top just to distinguished that it was a soap brand and the image fit nicely with my design. I think that this soap would be for more wealthy demographic because it is very fancy and more for show. This soap is geared towards middle age women (30-50). This type of design was used to modernize design and was "committed to abolishing the traditional hierarchy of the arts". In the 19th century the middle class population was rising and with this came the need for more designers to create attractive advertising for these people.
