I was born in Ventura, CA, but I've lived in the SoCal area until I graduated college. I thought I'd take you on a quick journey to the places that I've lived and how they made me who I am today.
Oakview, CA is my Home Town. We're only 10 minutes inland from Ventura. Oakview is small town America in a nutshell. Although I only lived here until the end of the 5th grade. Some of the best memories of my life are from here.
Quartz Hill on the left and Acton above.
Although I only lived in each place for a few years, I learned a great deal about self reliance and seeing things through while there.
Located near the Santa Ynez Valley not far from Santa Barbara, Solvang is a picturesque Danish community. Known for its windmills, tourism, and Aebleskivers (Danish pancake balls), Solvang is also where I got my first real job out of high school. For the next chapter in my life, see the section on my educational accomplishments.
I moved here to go to Allan Hancock Community College in 2016. Santa Maria is predominantly a hispanic working class community known for two things, working multiple jobs or studying. I certainly did a lot of the latter while I lived there. About 15 to 20 miles away was Pismo Beach. When the pandemic hit in early 2020, I moved back from Camarillo to finish up the last year of my degree online.
I moved to Camarillo to transfer to CSU Channel Islands in late 2019. The beach was only 5 minutes away, Malibu a half hour, and the Santa Monica pier 45 minutes away. Wilshire Blvd and West Hollywood were an hour away. My plan was to take some easy summer classes, and live it up. Then the pandemic happened.
