Course life.
There are around 120 students on our Biomedical Science course all studying modules in clinical pathology - what causes disease and how those diseases are diagnosed in the laboratory.
Students are in University every day, spending on average one day a week in our fantastic suite of science laboratories, which are all equipped with the very latest instrumentation.
Students can tailor certain aspects of their course to their own specific interests e.g. certain assignment topics, final year module choice and research project. You can also choose whether you would like to apply for a placement year and/or stay on for an addition year of research-focused study to graduate with a MSci.

Everyone has the opportunity to apply for a year's work placement, which takes place during the third year of study.
The majority of our placement partners are based in the UK, but some opportunities may arise for students to apply abroad - see what Tom did on his placement at Eurimmun in Germany (left).
If you successfully secure a placement in a NHS biomedical science laboratory it may also be possible for you gain evidence towards your IBMS registration portfolio.
"placement has not only given me great experience of working in a research laboratory, but has helped me decide on what future career path I want to take.
With a full year on placement, I now feel much more confident in my own abilities as a scientist, and I am now ready to tackle my final year of university."
