The placement provider provided an educational experience which aided in developing me by increasing my confidence and helped develop me further into a professional scientist.
Scunthorpe - Pathology - Trainee BMS
It was a very good experience of being in employment in a real working environment and the challenges that come with that. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially when I first started and it didn't take long for me to feel like a part of the team.
ALcontrol Laboratories - Rotherham
The placement gave me the opportunity to rotate in different sections within the Haematology and Blood bank laboratory. I found this to be useful as I got the opportunity to understand the different sections and analytical tests which were carried out. Also, my placement allocated me study time each week in order to complete my IBMS portfolio. In order to increase my professional knowledge, I also got the opportunity to participate in CPD, attend seminars and visit other departments.
Sheffield Childen's Hospital - Haematology - Trainee BMS
I had two fantastic supervisors and received plenty of help and support. I was given an appropriate amount of responsibility, and all members of staff in my lab group, and the department made me feel very happy and welcome. I feel that this placement year will definitely help me going forwards into my final year of university and into future employment.
