Understanding Education Abroad @MC
Studying abroad is a unique way for Maryville College Scots to grow their résumé, gain international experience, and develop professional skills and global awareness. There are many academic, professional, and personal benefits of study abroad. Some notable benefits include:
Value of education abroad
Students who study abroad are more likely to graduate in a timelier manner than their peers who stay on campus.
First-year students with lower GPAs who later study abroad are more likely to graduate in 4-5 years than their peers who do not study abroad.
Students with low SAT scores who study abroad finish college with higher GPAs than their peers who stay on campus.
Students who study abroad receive higher starting salaries and are more likely to receive admission to their first or second choice graduate school.
Students who study abroad get jobs faster than students who choose to stay on campus.
WE VALUE YOU!
The Center for Global Engagement strives to make every study abroad experience an impactful opportunity but we cannot do this alone. Cross-campus collaboration is essential in our efforts to send over 25% of Scots abroad every year.
As a faculty member, you can provide international opportunities for your students by leading a program abroad! We call this aTravel Study program. Each year, MC faculty and staff lead over 50 students abroad.
Important faculty-led program Resources
