Microsoft Teams (available via GLOW) is part of the Office 365 suite of applications. It is a communication and collaboration tool with chat, video meetings and file storage functionality. Class Teams provides a private virtual classroom space which teachers can create and share with their class. A Class Team allows learners to communicate with their teachers and other learners, as well as receiving, submitting and getting feedback on assessments online. Learners can also access Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and their Class OneNote from inside their Class Team.
Teams within Glow may differ to Microsoft Teams used by businesses or other organisations. Some features are disabled to ensure the safeguarding of learners and teachers. More information about Teams within Glow can be found - here
Teachers may have already added the learner to their Class Team, so there is no requirement for the learner to take any action to join the Team themselves. Some schools may provide learners with a code they can use to join the Team, the video below explains how learners can do this.
Joining a Team with a code - If a learner has been sent a code by their teacher this video will show them how to join their new Team.
Some school many use the Assignments functionality within Teams to handout homework, assigned reading or learning materials. The video below will demonstrate how learners can complete and submit classwork via Teams.
Accessing and submitting Assignments - If a learner has been assigned classwork via Assignments in Teams this video will demonstrate how they can access and complete the work.
.
In the event of school closures learners may be encouraged to take part in scheduled live online lessons delivered via Teams. Using webcam or video enabled devices such as tablets or mobiles learners will be able to take part in live lessons where they can communicate with teachers and other learners. Teachers will advise when it is appropriate for learners to enable their webcam and microphones during the lesson; however this is not mandatory and learners should only use these functions if they are comfortable doing so with parental permission. Not enabling these features should not detract from the learners ability to actively take part in the lesson as there are chat facilities.

Glow can be accessed from any browser, although Chrome is recommended to ensure performance. If the learner does have access to a mobile device they can download the Microsoft Teams app free from their app store. When first accessing the downloaded app they will be required to sign in with a Microsoft account. This will be in the the from of - glowusername@glow.sch.uk , they will then be asked to enter their Glow password. They need only do this once.
Additional videos to support learners in their use of Teams can be found in the Moray Digital Learning Team SharePoint site which can be accessed by clicking on the button below. Please note you must be logged on to Glow to view this content.
