From March 2024 any digital inclusion devices issued to learners in Moray Schools will run ChromeOS Flex, making them very similar to a Chromebook. To help support families in setting up their new devices there is a guide below and links to support pages.
It is important that you are aware of the following about this device:
The device should be used for activities to support learning and is not connected to the Moray Council Network.
The device will remain the property of Moray Council and are loaned for use in line with Glow Community rules.
Moray Council will NOT provide any website filtering, it is the responsibility of the child’s parent/guardian to monitor all online activity provided by their own wifi network.
Devices have virus protection which parents/guardians are responsible for updating, along with performing general software updates.
Moray Council will not be responsible for any activity undertaken on the device when in the possession of the child/family it has been allocated to.
Any additional software installed while the device is on loan will be removed upon the return of the device, and Moray Council are not responsible for the cost/loss of removed software.
Devices and chargers should be returned if your child leaves education with Moray or at the request of your child’s school.

If you have any question or issues with the device issued please contact your school.
Sign in with a Google account and not your school computer login
All learners have a Google account through Glow. Your Glow Google username is on the issuing slip provided when the device was issued.
Glow Google accounts are your Glow username with the suffix @my.glow.scot
Make sure your keyboard is set to UK or some of the keys may not function as expected.
If you find the @ symbol isn't working it is likely your keyboard is set to US
You can change your keyboard language in the settings in the bottom right corner of the screen, just click next to the clock.
All user accounts can be removed on the home screen, expect the device Owner account which is the first Google account created on the device.
If you experience significant issues with your device you can conduct a Powerwash
That will remove all accounts, WIFI connects and essentially factory reset the device. This will update the software and allow you to add accounts and WIFI connects back in by following the set up instructions above.
To complete a Powerwash sign out of your profile, press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r and follow the onscreen instructions
Set up your device to allow offline mode so you can edit documents without internet access
Follow these instructions - click here
All Glow users have access to Microsoft 365 for Education through their Glow account. To access applications like Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and others on your SGDI Device, open the Chrome browser, log in to Glow, and select the 'Office 365 Home' tile.
This will direct you to the Microsoft 365 Copilot Home page, where you can view recently worked-on documents or create new ones using the 'Create' icon in the left-hand menu bar. The app launcher (the 3x3 grid of dots) in the top left corner allows users to view and open individual applications.
If the 'Office 365 Home' tile is not already on your Glow Launchpad, click HERE for instructions on adding it via the App Library.
