Intelligent Agents may seem very limited at first. However, if you know your way around Release Conditions, you can do a lot more than simply remind students that an assignment is coming due or to check the D2L Course space. You can use Intelligent Agents to:
Congratulate students on getting a perfect score on a Quiz via email
Remind students to check the Course Syllabus if they have not already
Inform the student that they should contact you if their grade drops below a certain score
and more.
Additionally, when you run an Intelligent Agent, you can check out the history of the agent and export that history for your records. Check out the videos below to learn more.
If you have an Agent that you like, you can also copy it and modify it for other purposes.
Go to Edit Course
Find and click on Intelligent Agents
Click on the dropdown carat to the right of the Agent
In the menu that appears, select View History
There, you can see the date when the Agent was Run, the result of that run, the type of run, and who initiated that run. Clicking on the hyperlink in the Results column will give you more detailed information on that specific run. Doing so will give you the name of the users that triggered your agent as well as what action was taken. If an email was sent, you can click on Email Sent in the Action Taken column to see the contents of that email.
Click on Edit Course
Find and click on Intelligent Agents
Click on More Actions and choose Export Agent History
By default, All Agents should be selected. However, if you click on the dropdown titled All, you can choose a specific agent
To include practice runs in the the file that is produced, make sure you check the box for that
You can also a specific range of dates if you want to narrow down the history a bit
Click Export
Wait for the screen to update and then click on the link provided to download the CSV file.
This file will include information on the course, the user that triggered the agent, information on the agent including it's name and when it ran, and whether or not an email was sent. Note that the history will NOT record the email itself, just whether or not it was sent.
Go to Edit Course
Find and click on Intelligent Agents
Click on the dropdown carat to the right of the Agent
Click on Copy to make a copy of the selected Agent
Click on the Agent's title to edit it.
This can be useful if you have an Agent that is just vague enough that you can use it for other things. We made such an agent in the Intelligent Agent for Upcoming Course Activity.
