Canisius College Updates on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Disease & Response Plan

The Academic Continuance Plan is in effect. Residence Halls closed as of Thursday, March 19. Remote instruction began March 23 and will run through the end of the semester.

Canisius College is closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and developing response plans and making decisions about the health and safety of our campus community in accord with local, state, and federal guidelines. What You Need to Know Now

UPDATED May 6, 2020

> The college will receive about $1.1 million in institutional funds under the CARES Act and we will use this amount to reimburse students for unused room and board charges.

Two programs are presently open to students: the Canisius CARES Act Grant and the Emergency Relief Fund. Please carefully review these guidelines for details on these two programs.

> Canisius has updated the pass/fail guidelines for the spring 2020 semester. Learn more.

> Canisius College has made the difficult decision to postpone our 2020 Commencement Exercises, originally scheduled for May 13 and May 16.

Commencement 2020 has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 10. More details will emerge as we get closer.

> Due to Governor Cuomo’s recent executive order, all administrative personnel and faculty began working remotely on Monday, March 23. Certain essential personnel, including Public Safety administrators and facilities personnel, will continue to maintain their on-campus duties.

> Academic Continuance Plans began Monday, March 23 with all undergraduate and graduate classes conducted remotely. This will remain in effect through the end of the spring semester. Students should not report to campus.

> Questions about technology, teleconference tools or other phone functions, should be directed to ITS.

> Bouwhuis Library closed as of Monday, March 23. Library services will continue online only.

> Resident students will be contacted by Student Life beginning on March 23 about setting up a time to return to campus to pick up their belongings. Please note, this will be by appointment only. Stay tuned for further details.

> A limited foodservice operation will remain available for students who continue to reside on campus.

> The College’s Student Health Center will continue to operate.

> All Canisius-sponsored events of 50 or more people, whether on or off-campus, are suspended until further notice.

> The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has cancelled all spring sports competitions, practices (including captain’s practices), and other athletic related activities for the remainder of the spring semester.

> The College has suspended all non-essential, college-sponsored international and domestic travel involving students through the end of May.
