At the end of each swim season, LHSAA hosts 4 state championship swim meets in Sulphur, LA, 1 for each division. Magnet is in Division 2.Â
This page has everything you need to know for the state meet.
To be eligible for the preliminary session* of the state meet, swimmers must achieve a certain time for each event. The LHSAA creates these time standards each year based on how fast people are swimming in the state and how many swimmers are in the state. Each division has their own time standards.
*information on prelim/final sessions can be found on the FAQ page
The state championship meets are split between 4 days, with Divisions 3 and 4 swimming on Wednesday and Thursday, and Divisions 1 and 2 swimming on Friday and Saturday.
Since there are 2 divisions swimming each day, they both have their respective morning and afternoon session. For example, DIII may swim in the mornings, and DIV will swim in the afternoons. Each year, these will swap.
Prelims is always held on the first day, where swimmers will swim all of their events.
Finals is always held on the second day, where swimmers will swim all of the events they qualified for.
Relays are swam in prelims, and, if they place in the top 16 in prelims, are eligible to be swum in finals.
Please note that Magnet is Division II.
