❄️ December Mental Health Corner ❄️
🧠 Mental Health Tips of the Month
Protect your energy by setting healthy boundaries during a busy season.
Keep routines where you can—sleep, meals, and breaks help you stay grounded.
Notice your emotions without judging them; the holidays can bring both joy and stress.
Practice small moments of calm: breathing exercises, quiet music, or stepping outside for fresh air.
📋 December Checklist for a Healthier You
✔ Turn in any missing assignments before break begins.
✔ Choose one winter activity that brings you joy (lights, music, hot chocolate, time with friends).
✔ Plan a self-care activity for the first weekend of break.
✔ Check in with someone you care about—holidays can be tough for people in hidden ways.
✔ Take time to rest without guilt; restoration is part of success.
💬 Quote of the Month
"Rest is not idleness. It is the pause that renews everything." — Unknown
💙 Remember, you don’t have to do everything alone. Stop by to see your school counselor—they are here for you.
Attention Seniors: Read the message from Mrs. Hernandez. You can also visit the GO Center page.
Seniors,
Local Scholarship Applications will be available soon! I will be meeting with all seniors to go over our Local Scholarship process in November. In the meantime, see below for a list of documents you can get ready.
--- one page essay about yourself, your family, your future goals, and financial status
--- at least 2 letters of recommendation from a teacher or counselor (ask them now)
--- a resume (I have samples in the Go Center for you to refer to)
Keep in mind all scholarship applications will ask where you have applied to college and what your status is (accepted, pending, etc.). Scholarship Applications will also ask if you have taken any college readiness exams (SAT, ACT, TSI). If you have not applied or taken any exams, it’s not too late!
You can email me or stop by the Go Center anytime with questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Nina Hernandez
