Dear MVYPS Staff,
As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a positive school climate, Martha's Vineyard Public Schools (MVYPS) invites all instructional* and non-instructional staff** to participate in a voluntary school climate survey for the 2024-2025 school year.
The MVYPS School Climate Survey, based on the U.S. Department of Education’s School Climate Survey (EDSCLS), gathers your perspectives on key aspects of our school culture—engagement, safety, and environment. Your insights will help us assess the current climate at individual MVYPS schools and identify system-wide trends to guide planning for the 2025-2026 school year.
Instructional staff, non-instructional staff, parents/caregivers, and students results will be analyzed alongside one another to provide a comprehensive picture of school climate at MVYPS. Survey results will be shared with staff between spring and fall of 2025.
Your privacy is our top priority. No identifying information (such as names or email addresses) will be collected. Responses will be analyzed and reported only in the aggregate. If the number of responses in a group is too small to protect anonymity, that group's data will not be reported in an identifiable manner.
The survey can be accessed from any tablet, phone, or computer.
IP addresses will not be tracked or used for analysis.
If you work in multiple school buildings, you may complete a survey for each school.
Once you exit the survey, you will not be able to return to change your answers or complete it later.
The survey will be open from March 12, 2025 to March 18, 2025, and it takes less than 15 minutes to complete the survey.
If you have any questions, please contact Richie Smith, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools, or Kim Garrison, Behavioral Health Coordinator.
Thank you for your participation—your insights help shape a school climate that supports learning and growth for all.
Which survey should I take?
Please refer to the definitions of Instructional Staff and Non-Instructional Staff below to determine which survey applies to you.
What if I can't adequately answer a question?
There are no right or wrong answers—please respond based on your experience, opinion, and understanding of practices within your school(s). If you’re unsure, select the best possible response or skip the question. Note: If a participant skips the majority of questions, their responses may not be included in the final analysis.
What if I can't complete the survey during the Survey Kickoff?
You can complete the survey anytime between March 12 – March 18, 2025, at your convenience.
What if I accidentally log out or close the survey link?
You will need to restart the survey. Incomplete responses are unlikely to be included in the final analysis.
What if I work in multiple school buildings?
If you regularly work in one or two schools, you may complete a separate survey for each. If you work across all MVYPS schools, you may complete multiple surveys. However, please only complete surveys for schools where you actively work rather than selecting schools solely to provide feedback.
