The High School and Beyond Plan empowers students to explore their interests and strengths, select courses that align with future goals, and demonstrate readiness for college, careers, and life. Serving as a personalized guide, this plan supports students in making informed decisions as they prepare for success beyond high school.

Washington State Graduation Requirement: Under Washington State law (RCW 28A.230.090), completing a High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) is a graduation requirement for every student. Students will not graduate without fully completing their HSBP each year. This plan is reviewed and updated annually to reflect evolving goals, interests, and postsecondary pathways.

Mount Vernon School District students are required to complete their High School and Beyond Plan through SchooLinks. Students will complete their High School and Beyond Plan tasks each year in grade level classes.

High School Students (Grades 9-12) use SchooLinks to complete their High School and Beyond Plan:

• The High School and Beyond Plan will be delivered on December 11th/12th in the following grade band classes:

  • 9th Grade: Biology (9th Grade Presentation)

  • 10th Grade: English 10 (10th Grade Presentation)

  • 11th Grade: US History/APUSH (11th Grade Presentation)

  • 12th: Grade: English (12th Grade Presentation)

  • If you’re absent or don’t have a grade-band class at MVHS (Running Start/NCTA), please review the presentations and complete your High School and Beyond Plan at your own pace. Remember, your High School and Beyond Plan is the “To Do” list on the main dashboard in Schoolinks.
    
    

12th Graders have access to additional tools, such as:

• Register for College Representative Visits (Also available to 11th Graders)

• Tracking college applications, including Common App submissions

• Requesting transcripts and letters of recommendation

• Finalizing and sharing their High School and Beyond Plan

• Viewing scholarships

Parents or guardians can create SchooLinks accounts to stay involved by:

• Monitoring their child’s progress of their High School and Beyond Plan

• Assisting with post-graduation planning

• Collaborating with counselors and students on future goals

• Parents will login to Schoolinks with their email on file  / Schoolinks with their email on file (Spanish).

Staff will access SchooLinks accounts to stay involved by:

• Engaging in student's progress of their High School and Beyond Plan and discussing future goals.

• Sending Letters of Recommendation requested by students. 

• And more!
