I am a firm believer that the learning environment is essential for a productive learning experience. I strive to make all students feel welcome and safe in my classroom and in the community. I also believe in experiential learning. This my 8th year teaching in post senior Special Education. It is a perfect combination teaching through experience and broadening the area in which my students feel safe. Every time a student learns to travel independently, it warms my heart to know that I have helped them gain personal access to their community.
My beliefs about teaching were formed over the course of a 25 year career teaching English, Algebra, Economics, World History, Biology and P.E. in high schools around California. I am now teaching Special Education at the transition level, because the opportunity to make a dramatic change in a students life is always in view.Â
