CHEMistry: Unit 3
Electrons in the atom
Unit 3 Student Advice:
The more you practice the easier it will get, if you slack on the homework it will hurt you in the long run. (MD, class of '24)
I would make sure to go to after school study sessions!!!! They help!!! (EM, class of '24)Â
Be prepared because it is very difficult (in my opinion) and it’s a lot of math and it’s really important to listen and ask questions so you can get a good solid understanding. (EJ, class of '22) Â
It is a hard class you just need to persevere through it. (MM, class of '24)
Learning Targets
I can explain how previous models of the atom contributed to improving the current model of the atom.
I can describe the behavior and arrangement of electrons in the quantum mechanical model.
I can depict the arrangement of electrons using electron configuration notation, orbital diagrams and, the Bohr model.
I can sketch out and summarize the role of the electron in flame tests and emission spectra.
I can explain and calculate the relationships between energy, frequency, and wavelength of photons on the electromagnetic spectrum.
