The most helpful way to support Room 25 is by contributing to our Annual Pledge Drive, which we solely depend on to fund our class field trips, allows for special projects, replenishes our classroom supplies when needed, and so much more. 100% of all contributions go directly to enhancing the learning experiences of the students in Room 25, so this is the most direct way to support your child's experience for the school year. Funds do not transfer to other classrooms nor do they "roll over" to the next school year, so rest assured that any contributions will directly benefit your child & their classmates.
Listed below are items that we are always looking for, as they are regularly used by all:
Canon PIXMA TS6420 Ink Cartridges
CL-261 color ink and/or PG-260 black ink
Cleaning supplies
Hand wipes & surface cleansing wipes (ex: Clorox)
Tissue paper (Kleenex preferred!)
Any item(s) from our classroom supplies wish list
Items that can be used as incentives/rewards
Ex: stickers, bookmarks, gel pens, notebooks, puzzles
Bulk size snacks for the entire class
Ex: chips, popcorn, gummy bears, juice
Listed below are a few of the most commonly used stores I frequent to restock classroom supplies & resources:
Amazon - While Room 25 has a running wishlist of supplies/books/etc. that will enhance our learning experiences in the classroom, Amazon is also the most common store I utilize to refill any immediate needs our classroom might need.
TeachersPayTeachers - This website has endless resources to supplement our curriculum with standards-based, teacher-created lessons & activities designed to engage students. I frequent this website regularly in efforts to make learning more interesting and accessible for students!
Target - All funds will go directly to filling any immediate needs that Room 25 might need throughout the school year (ex: tissue paper, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, face masks).
Field trips will vary each school year based on availability as well as what our class can afford (based on pledges contributed by families at the beginning of the year). If you know for certain that you'd like to volunteer as a chaperone regardless of the field trip date/details, there are steps you'll need to take first. I recommend getting a head start as soon as possible as the process can take 2-4 weeks to complete:
Fingerprint clearance (required background check for all volunteers)
Valid proof of negative TB test (valid = within 4 years of the test result date)
OP-66 waiver (not time-sensitive; can be done quickly on the day of the event)
Once you are cleared to volunteer by our Front Office staff, there are other ways you can actively participate in your child's school activities throughout the year that extend beyond just field trips. We typically have about (3) PTA-hosted school-wide events and (3) teacher-hosted events that could always use parent volunteers! We'd love to see more intermediate parent representation in our community events, so please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you're interested :)
One of my most important goals as your child's teacher is to encourage a love for learning through reading.
I update our classroom library wish list with books personally requested by students, books I believe my students would enjoy, books aligned with current events/holidays/etc., and many others I believe students would benefit from having access to in their classroom. I try to have something for every reader -- regardless of reading level or personal interests -- so that all students are exposed to as many rich texts as possible.
Physical stores I frequent to keep our library updated and replenished include:
Target
Barnes & Noble
Recycle Bookstore
Scholastic has a Classroom Book Club program that allows our class to earn points toward free books with every purchase. You are welcome to share our Class Page to extended family and friends as well because their orders will also help earn free books for our class library!
Visit our Class Page: https://orders.scholastic.com/Y78JT
Activate our Class Code: Y78JT (this is a one-time code you only need to activate once)
Shop from carefully curated lists of diverse books, many of which are regularly on sale and much cheaper than prices you'll find in stores.
If you are having difficulty picking from the vast selection online, you can narrow down your search using Scholastic's digital flyers specific to 6th grade: https://clubs.scholastic.com/grade6
You can choose to have your books shipped to your home or delivered to Room 25 with our class order.
Memberships are $10/year per person, and your entire family can join with one simple application/payment!
You can support various PTA-sponsored events throughout the school year by volunteering your time to help set up, supervise, and/or clean up school events. This is a great way to be on campus with your child and experience some of the fun events PTA both funds & plans for our school community!
There are PTA meetings each month, where you can join either virtually or in-person to stay up-to-date on all things happening at your child's school site. Your attendance at these meetings earns your child rewards like Free Dress passes (no uniform for 1 day), popsicles, and more!
