The most helpful way to support Room 25 is by contributing to our Annual Pledge Drive, which we solely depend on to fund our class field trips, allows for special projects, replenishes our classroom supplies when needed, and so much more. 100% of all contributions go directly to enhancing the learning experiences of the students in Room 25, so this is the most direct way to support your child's experience for the school year. Funds do not transfer to other classrooms nor do they "roll over" to the next school year, so rest assured that any contributions will directly benefit your child & their classmates.
Another impactful way to show your support for our class is to provide direct donations of community supplies. Listed below are items that we are always looking for, as they are regularly used by all:
CL-261 color ink / PG-260 black ink - I only have access to color printing by using my own personal printer, and this is what I use to print student projects, essays, art, photos, etc.
Cleaning supplies - Hand wipes & surface cleansing wipes are used daily
Tissue paper (Kleenex preferred!) - You'd be surprised how many tissues we run through each week!
Items that can be used as incentives/rewards - Ex: stickers, bookmarks, gel pens, notebooks, puzzles
Bulk size snacks for the entire class - Ex: chips, popcorn, gummy bears, juice
Any item(s) from our classroom supplies wish list - I do my best to provide my class with all essential materials. However, items for fun projects, rainy day activities, class parties, classroom organization, decor, etc. are not provided by the school and thus typically come out-of-pocket. Items on this list would be lovely to have, should families choose to donate in this way, but these items are in no way necessary :)
One of my most important goals as your child's teacher is to encourage a love for learning through reading. We dedicate time to reading in class each and every day, so naturally, our library is one of the most precious & well-loved spaces in our room :)
In efforts to keep our library up-to-date with books that interest the students of Room 25, I update our classroom library wish list with books personally requested by students. I also add books I believe my students would enjoy, books aligned with current events/holidays/etc., and many others I believe students would benefit from having access to in their classroom. I try to have something for every reader -- regardless of reading level or personal interests -- so that all students are exposed to as many rich texts as possible. Every day is a new opportunity to discover a new favorite book series, genre, or author!
Physical stores I frequent to keep our library updated and replenished include Target, Barnes & Noble, and Recycle Bookstore.
Field trips will vary each school year based on availability as well as what our class can afford (based on pledges contributed by families at the beginning of the year). If you know for certain that you'd like to volunteer as a chaperone regardless of the field trip date/details, there are steps you'll need to take first. I recommend getting a head start as soon as possible as the process can take 2-4 weeks to complete:
Fingerprint clearance (required background check for all volunteers)
Valid proof of negative TB test (valid = within 4 years of the test result date)
OP-66 waiver (not time-sensitive; can be done quickly on the day of the event)
Once you are cleared to volunteer by our Front Office staff, there are other ways you can actively participate in your child's school activities throughout the year that extend beyond just field trips. We typically have about (3) PTA-hosted school-wide events and (3) teacher-hosted events that could always use parent volunteers! We'd love to see more intermediate parent representation in our community events, so please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you're interested :)
Memberships are $15/year per person, and your entire family can join with one simple application/payment!
You can support various PTA-sponsored events throughout the school year by volunteering your time to help set up, supervise, and/or clean up school events. This is a great way to be on campus with your child and experience some of the fun events PTA both funds & plans for our school community!
There are PTA meetings each month, where you can join either virtually or in-person to stay up-to-date on all things happening at your child's school site. Your attendance at these meetings earns your child rewards like Free Dress passes (no uniform for 1 day), popsicles, and more!
