School Supplies
Every day, students should come to school prepared with their:
Fully charged MUSD-issued Chromebook
Please note: There will be no access to charging Chromebooks in class, so it's imperative students arrive to school with their fully-charged device each day. Forgetting one's Chromebook will result in falling behind for the day (as there are no spare computers or chargers).
Notebooks for daily note-taking (ELA, social studies, and mathematics)
(1) 3-subject notebook /OR/ (3) single subject notebooks
Binder, individual subject folders, or other preferred method of paperwork organization
Writing utensils (pencils, erasers, pens, and highlighters)
Wired (not bluetooth) headphones **ESSENTIAL for testing**
Refillable water bottle **Important for P.E.**
Our Class Schedule
We will be on an alternating A Week/B Week schedule this year.
A Week begins on Monday, August 17th
B Week begins on Monday, August 24th
Students will attend Science classes on B Weeks
There are 2 Minimum Weeks (12:00 dismissal M-F) throughout the year:
September 28-October 2, 2026 (Fall Conferences)
March 15-19, 2027 (Spring Conferences)
There will also be singular Minimum Days, for which you can refer to the District Calendar (linked below for your convenience)
Please note that our daily schedule is subject to change due to state/district-mandated assessments, school assemblies & activities, field trips, etc. -- students may check our daily agenda (linked on Google Classroom) to see what they have missed from class on any given day.
Please plan to arrive on campus no earlier than 8:00 a.m. with all of your school supplies so that you are ready to learn! Our day begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. in Room 25.
Important Dates to Note
Please refer to the Milpitas Unified School District Calendar for the 2026-2027 School Year to note any & all district-observed holidays, minimum days, and holiday breaks ahead of time to plan family vacations/travel times accordingly.
Significant dates to take special note of:
The First Day of School is Thursday, August 13th, 2026
Friday, November 20, 2026 will be a FULL DAY of instruction (2:18 PM dismissal)
All other Fridays before holiday breaks are scheduled minimum days (Dec 18, Feb 12, Apr 9)
6th Grade Science Camp will be held March 15-19, 2027
This coincides with our site's scheduled minimum week for spring conferences, so 6th grade families will have the opportunity to meet with teachers at a different time. Specific dates will be communicated to Room 25 families as soon as we have made alternative arrangements for our 6th grade families.
The Last Day of School is Tuesday, June 8th, 2027
6th Grade Promotion takes place on the last day of school and begins promptly at 8:30 AM
State & District Testing
I will always communicate important information and specific dates regarding State and District mandated testing schedules as soon as they become available to me.
Though typically, 6th grade families can expect:
(4) i-Ready Diagnostics around September, November, March, and May to measure growth in Reading and Mathematics
California State Testing (CAASPP/SBAC) around April/May to measure annual growth toward CA Common Core State Standards for ELA and Math
District Benchmark assessments 3 times throughout the year to assess narrative, informational, and opinion writing skills
Middle school math placement testing (MDTP) around mid-May to assess readiness levels (note: this is the only assessment families may opt out of; more information will be provided closer to the date)
