In 2nd Grade Music, students work on a variety of musical activities, including singing music, playing instruments, learning to read music, and moving to music
The cornerstone of the 2nd Grade curriculum is John Feierabend's Conversational Solfège. This curriculum teaches students to read music the way that humans learn language- by first understanding and conversing aurally. In music, we use rhythmic and tonal solfège syllables.
So far this year, 2nd graders have been up to a lot, including singing and moving to songs such as Bridge of Avignon and How Many Miles To Babylon, playing rhythm sticks and drums, and speaking and identifying rhythmic patterns in 2/4 time.
