I became interested in the Blue Zones when I went on a study abroad program with Dr. Naber to Ikaria, Greece, one of the 5 Blue Zones. Being able to observe the stress-free and healthy lifestyle these people live and hearing from them during our week on the island made me crave to learn more about other areas of the world like Ikaria. I began working on the research project the fall semester after the trip. I want to learn more about Blue Zones, apply it in my own life, and be able to teach patients in practice as a nurse about how they can even apply these aspects to their own lives to be healthier.
