Travel meets are maybe the coolest thing we do. We usually target doing 3-4 travel meets a year.
For these meets, a team of 30+ of us hop in and carpool anywhere across the midwest to compete!
We usually stay at houses of our amazing members (free housing yay) for 1-2 nights depending on the meet. We eat amazing food, spend quality time together as a club and make unforgettable memories.
Every semester we try to get at least one travel meet and one intrasquad meet in. More schools around us now have club teams that have better competition and availability for us to compete with.
Some potential upcoming meets for this semester include:
October 4th: MSUSC Spooky Spartan Invitational
October 25th: Minnesota Swim Club
November 15: Home meet
Depending on the meet, our budget, and other limitations, we may have to set limits on how many swimmers can attend a travel meet. We occasionally have to make cuts based on these limitations. Because of this, everyone is required to apply to attend travel meets.
Priority will be given first to leaders of the club. If you’re a first year, don’t let that discourage you! We also give priority to those who are active in our club. Simply put, if you really want to attend our travel meets, make sure you’re attending practice. It’s much less likely you’ll be selected if leadership doesn’t know who you are.
If you have any competitive swimming experience, yes you are. Most of our meets are against teams that also have a wide range of skill. If you don’t have much swimming experience and are concerned, please reach out to leadership. However, this is the bottom line -
We don’t go to these meets to win, we go to have fun and spend time together as a club.
Usually, the timeline leading up to a travel meet is as follows -
1.) Four weeks before meet: Application will be sent out via email.
2.) Three weeks before meet: Application closes.
3.) Two and half weeks before meet: Travel team is announced
4.) Two weeks before meet: Lineup and itinerary are finalized. Payment is due
