Nope! Our club has members at many levels of swimming. You do not need to have any competitive swimming experience to join. However, we do ask that you have some lap swimming experience. Our captains provide workouts and can help improve technique, but do not provide swimming lessons. If you’re looking for lessons, we recommend taking a swimming course through Michigan Tech before joining the club.
If you’re ready to join Husky Swim Club, that’s fantastic! We’re really excited to have you.
To trial the club, all you need to do is sign up on the Google Sheet we use to sign up for practices. It has all the information you should need about dates/times.
To become an official member there are three steps.
1.) Request to join on involvement link
2.) Sign liability waiver linked in the practice sign-up sheet
3.) Pay your annual dues to our treasurer. More information on that below.
That’s it! Now you’re a D4 champion!
Yes! Associate memberships are offered to anyone, but certain restrictions / requirements may apply. If you are not an MTU student, please contact leadership before going through the recruitment process.
Yep! You may sign up for Club Sports (PE0330). Sometimes you have to email the instructor directly for a sign up. If no instructor is listed, just email Student Leadership and Involvement. If you’re taking the credits, do your best to participate weekly.
Our executive board manages finances, and we do our best to ensure that the club is affordable for everyone and our events are reasonably priced. We get a yearly budget from Tech’s undergraduate student government (USG) but that never covers all of our costs for the year. We charge dues to be a member, and the costs are below depending on when you join.
Dues are $20 per semester or $40 per year.
Our treasurer for the 2025-2026 year is Joey Bliem. Most payments will go through him via cash or Venmo @hscmtu. His account is linked to a Husky Swim Club bank account. Please include “HSC” in Venmo payment descriptions and sticky note cash payments with your name.
Our travel meets also do come at an expense. They may range from $10-$50 for a weekend, which may also include some of your food, meet entry fees, etc. At those travel meets there may also be additional costs at your expenses, i.e. eating out at restaurants. This all depends on the meet, but we do our best to make them as affordable as possible.
Lastly, our club does apparel. We will do our best to give discounts on apparel to our members so you can rep the Husky Swim Club logo! Information about apparel and caps will be sent out, and we do our best to keep the costs lower for them. Here are some old apparel from previous years below. This year we will be having some new apparel options, more information to come soon!!
