NJHS Member Code of Conduct
Members of the Mount Sinai Middle School NJHS chapter are expected to:
**Academic Expectations:**
- Maintain the required GPA each marking period
- Demonstrate consistent effort in all classes
- Complete all assignments on time
- Seek help when needed
**Behavioral Expectations:**
- Follow all school rules and policies
- Demonstrate respect for peers, teachers, and staff
- Show integrity in all academic work (no cheating, plagiarism, or dishonesty)
- Serve as positive role models for other students
- Represent NJHS and MSMS with dignity at all times
**Participation Expectations:**
- Attend all required chapter meetings
- Participate in chapter service projects
- Complete required service hours
- Wear appropriate attire at official events
**Service Expectations:**
- Complete 20 service hours during membership
- Submit service hour documentation by deadlines
- Demonstrate genuine commitment to helping others
Probation and Dismissal
Members who fail to meet expectations may face:
**Probation:**
- Issued for failure to maintain GPA, incomplete service hours, or behavioral concerns
- Member and family notified in writing
- Member cannot participate in induction ceremony or recognition events during probation
**Dismissal:**
- May result from failure to improve during probation, serious behavioral violations, or academic integrity violations
- Faculty Council reviews cases and makes final decision
- Member and family notified in writing
- Dismissal is permanent; student cannot reapply to NJHS
All members are expected to uphold the five pillars both in school and in the community.
