I am busy getting many new school supplies ready for you, but I would like you to bring some things to class as well in the first few days from the 2nd grade supply list, including:
• Backpack without wheels - you'll get a bus tag at Open House or Day 1 of school
• Water bottle and healthy snack daily
• A clean sock or dry eraser
• A hard plastic pencil box that snaps in front (about 5 by 8 by 2 inches works best/fits on our desk/holds everything) - see right
• Small CLOSED handheld pencil sharpener (practice using this before school)
12 sharpened pencils
2 large erasers
6 glue sticks
A box of 24 crayons (crayola works best)
8 pack of Expo wipe-off markers (dark colors)
Child size scissors
2 Tapes w/ tape dispenser
• Headphones in a ziplock bag labeled with name (for computer lab)
Optional and appreciated items we all use all year: A big box of tissues, baby wipes, gallon and small ziplock bags, and purell
Your first homework assignment will be to find three things at home that tell us about you AND can fit in a paper bag to bring to school. You will get more information about this on the first day of school, but you can start thinking about what adjectives would describe you and what objects you will bring that will help your classmates and I to get you know you better.
If you're taking advantage of all the great school supply sales right now, it's handy to pick up another set of crayons for the middle of the year. Some children are big colorers or lose many materials and they need replenishing. Extra dry erase markers come in handy too! You can never have enough post-its.
