Each week, the students will be provided 30 minutes to participate in a free write to include in their written journals. The students can choose to reflect on the following options: 

• The discussion from the sharing circles.

• One of the two prompts;

  • If they choose to use the prompt, they can express a personal connection to the prompt. 

• A character 

Each journal entry must include one vocabulary word that has been introduced during that particular week (circled or underlined). 

The instructor should indicate these options either on a permanent poster in the classroom or on the whiteboard.
