Conclusion
This workshop helped you build a sustainable plan to focus your actions and thrive while working toward a tenured career.
This workshop helped you understand that academic work is "physical, cognitive or emotional effort”. It is an investment and can't be avoided; however, you can find ways to ensure you receive a return on that investment. This return can help you thrive and avoid burnout.
You investigated your past to discover patterns that led you to thrive or burnout. You investigated your current situation to discover your values, strengths, and identity. Then you used this information to envision an ideal future, which you then deconstructed into attainable goals over three, five, and ten years. These attainable goals can provide the basis of a tailored and sustainable plan that will help you attend to tenure and promotion criteria.
It is highly recommended that you:
Keep the workshop documents you created in an easily accessible place so you can refer back to them as often as you like
Repeat this exercise annually, to ensure continuous alignment with your goals, values, and strengths.
