Winter 2025 Goals & Strategies:
As I continue my practicum in a kindergarten classroom, my focus this year is on refining my ability to support early learners, particularly those who are below grade level and English Language Learners (ELL). I also have the opportunity to work with a few special needs kids in my classroom, which has reinforced my desire to support and differentiate for all learners. My goals moving forward include deepening my understanding of differentiated instruction to better meet the diverse needs of my kids. I plan to continue implementing visuals into my lessons, a variety of rich literature, and targeted intervention to support literacy and numeracy.
Reflection:
During my practicum, I have grown in my ability to support diverse learners, including ELLs and students with special needs. Using visuals, rich literature, and targeted interventions has helped me better support literacy and numeracy. I plan to continue building my understanding of differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all my students.
Winter 2024 Goals & Strategies:
As I reflect on my fall goals, I am very happy to say that I was able to accomplish all of them throughout my first practicum. Being in the classroom for a full month has allowed me to plan a variety of connected lessons that contributed to students' learning. Throughout this process, I used a variety of teaching methods to explore each student's learning styles and preferences. This was an amazing learning experience for me. My goals moving forward include more unit planning that requires attention to student progress and understanding. I am only now beginning to unit plan, and I want to continue using the knowledge that I have gained on making changes and taking feedback to better my teaching practice.
Winter 2023 Goals & Strategies:
While reflecting on my goals from the fall semester, I believe that I was able to accomplish them as I have built a strong and professional relationship with my mentor teacher, which has allowed me to take on a larger role in the classroom. During this semester's field placement, I was able to teach a few mini lessons and read multiple picture books and chapter books to the class. This has been very beneficial to my learning and growth as a future educator. My goal for next semester is to become even more involved in the workplace and continue making lessons that are contributing to students' success. I would like to reflect on all of my current experience and create changes along the way to ensure better outcomes. Finally, I would like to continue building professional relationships in the workplace, as my mentors' feedback and experiences are a crucial part of my success.
In order to accomplish my goals, I will keep track of my mentor teacher's progress and build off of her work. I will also be exploring different teaching methods and styles to find what works best for each student.

Winter 2022 Goals & Strategies:
My goal this semester was to work on my professional responsibilities throughout my field placement. This includes creating effective relationships with students as well as my mentor teacher. I think its very important that the students in the classroom view me as a teacher rather than a friend. I also think its crucial to discuss new ideas and concerns with my mentor teacher in order to build on my knowledge and learn from her previous mistakes and successes.
While attempting to accomplish my goals, my mentor teacher gave me some great tips. She said that in order to be taken seriously in the classroom, I needed to work on my teaching voice, which meant projecting my voice when addressing the class. She also mentioned that by memorizing every student's name and building a relationship with them, I could communicate with them more clearly and understand the different discipline strategies that they follow. I was also given the opportunity to explore the different assessment strategies that my mentor uses throughout her teaching, which I thought was very informative. This process made me realize how much work truly goes into teaching, and I began to understand why it is so important to learn from your colleagues.
Fall 2022 Goals & Strategies:
I believe that I have accomplished all of my previous goals regarding my professional responsibility in the classroom. I have been able to create a wonderful relationship with all of my students by maintaining a great balance between getting to know them and maintaining a serious approach. My goal for next semester is to take on a larger role in the classroom and work on becoming more comfortable around the students. One artifact that demonstrates my professional responsibility from this semester is my WeeRead certificate which I have obtained by expanding my knowledge on children's reading.
Some strategies that I have for accomplishing this goal consist of working with my mentor teacher to create more tasks for me to complete in the classroom. This can include reading to the class every morning, teaching mini lessons, or working one on one with students who are struggling.
Fall 2021 Goals & Strategies:
My goal is to be able to maintain a professional relationship with all my students and colleagues. I think that it is very important for a teacher to understand that they are responsible for all of their students as well as what is being taught in class and how it effects child development. I plan on valuing equality and respect when teaching in order to ensure that all students feel welcome in the classroom. As an educator, it is my responsibility to provide culturally appropriate and meaningful opportunities for students and for parents to be a part of. I understand the professional responsibilities that come with teaching, and I plan on engaging in lifelong learning in order to achieve the best outcomes.
In order to achieve my goals, I will remain up to date with all of the new teaching methods and techniques in order to ensure that all of my students are receiving the proper attention in order to achieve their full potential. I will also follow the curriculum, which states that all students must gain knowledge on the First Nations, Inuit, and Metis. These are very important topics that I will commit to teaching. I will also work on creating professional relationships with other teachers in the workplace in order to gain insight on what they have learned throughout their experiences.
