Winter 2025 Goals & Strategies:
I believe that it is crucial to foster an engaging and interactive learning environment where students can take on an active role in their education. While I have made progress integrating technology into my lesson planning, I now aim to refine my approach by focusing on student-led learning experiences and hands-on engagement that cater to diverse needs, including English language learners (ELL) and students below grade level. My goal moving forward is to create more structured yet flexible learning opportunities where students can explore concepts through play-based learning, inquiry-driven, and technology-enhanced activities.
Reflection:
Throughout this practicum, I created more engaging, student-led learning experiences that supported diverse needs. I integrated play-based, inquiry-driven, and technology-enhanced activities that encouraged active participation, especially for ELLs and students below grade level. These hands-on approaches allowed students to explore concepts meaningfully while taking ownership of their learning.
Winter 2024 Goals & Strategies:
After reflecting on my initial fall goal, I am happy to see that I was able to integrate a few different forms of technology into my lesson planning. With that being said, I definitely want to continue working on this goal in the future. I want to use the knowledge that I have gained on coding to teach future lessons since I was unable to do so this semester. To expand on my future goal further, I would like to teach a few lessons where students are required to use technology independently to complete a task. I think that this would be a great learning experience for me, as I have yet to observe the highlights and challenges that come with these lessons.
Fall 2023 Goals & Strategies:
My goal for this semester is to experiment with different lesson plans and teaching styles in order to find what works best for my classroom. Not only will this allow me to accommodate students who need extra support, it will also create a more engaging classroom environment where all students feel excited to learn and participate. One must understand that there is a lot of trial and error that contributes to becoming an effective teacher. I will accomplish this goal by incorporating different technology into my lessons. This use of technology will provide students with the opportunity to easily grasp instructions and collaborate with their peers. (FL 1, 2, 5, & 7).
Winter 2023 Goals & Strategies:
I believe that I have accomplished my initial goal as I spent the majority of my time at Crossing Park Elementary working with different students. This has allowed me to gain more knowledge and experience about how some students may require different methods of learning. My tutoring experience has also contributed tremendously to this topic as I now understand the importance of accommodating and making changes along the way.
My goal for next semester is to experiment with different lesson plans and teaching styles in order to find what works best for my classroom.
Fall 2022 Goals & Strategies:
I believe that I have not accomplished my goals completely, as I am still gaining control in the classroom. Although I would like to accommodate each student and explore different learning styles, it is quite challenging to do so when I am not working in my own classroom. This semester I have been able to tutor a student privately, which has taught me so much about facilitating learning. When exploring my tutoring log , it is clear that I have focused on making changes throughout each session in order to ensure that I am targeting all of the obstacles being faced by my student.
My goal for next semester is to try and work with more students in order to increase my learning. Since each student faces different challenges based on the criteria that we are focused on, I will have to dig deep and quickly come up with new strategies that help improve their understanding.
Fall 2021 Goals & Strategies:
As mentioned in the TQS, in order to facilitate learning for children, I must demonstrate a professional body of knowledge. I am aware that it may take many trial and errors in order to make progress in the classroom, but I am committed to career-long learning.
To achieve my goals in the classroom, I will begin by testing out different methods of teaching, such as allowing children to become engaged in group discussions as well as lesson planning. I will use methods such as group work and individual work in order to distinguish which children are capable of working with others. I will also incorporate the outside world into my teaching. By allowing guest speakers into my classroom, students will be able to articulate new ideas from other adults and begin to form their own perspectives. I will also use field trips as a way of teaching because I believe that there is so much we can learn beyond the classroom.
I will stay up to date with different techniques, and I will incorporate technology into my learning in order to keep the students interested. This will also allow visual learners to gain more knowledge on the ideas being discussed and make the topics a little easier to understand. I plan on taking my goals very seriously and I hope to see a significant improvement in student learning.
Winter 2022 Goals & Strategies:
Building onto my goals from our fall semester, I want to learn more about the different ways I can facilitate learning while maintaining a professional body of knowledge. My field placement has allowed me to to see the variety of activities that I can incorporate into teaching in order to make learning a more exciting experience for kids. With the use of multiple teaching and learning strategies, I can ensure that all student needs are being met.
Being in the classroom has allowed me to realize how teaching is constantly changing as time progresses. This is very important because I believe all teachers should continue to change their methods in order to reach the most effective results. I also think that it is very important to maintain high expectations for all students in order to motivate them. I think that my expectations should stay the same throughout the school year because it will allow all students try their absolute best. The B.Ed. program outcomes focuses heavily on the importance of communicating your expectations and providing students with the right amount of time and support to reach them. This is very important to me because I want all students to succeed and be proud of their accomplishments.
