Dr. Freda Miller, Grade Four
Winter Semester 2026 Practicum: Midterm Evaluation
For the first half of my final practicum, I had demonstrated a developing to proficient level in majority of the outcomes on the evaluation. As I was not yet teaching 100%, I wanted to keep myself in the beginning to developing category as I felt I had not yet hit a proficient level due to not teaching 100%. I felt that I had many areas of growth not because I was doing poorly but because it was still very early in the practicum. I created goals for myself as I continued my practicum and shared these with my mentor teacher and faculty supervisor. These goals mostly surrounded trying new classroom management strategies and what assessment evidence should be kept for things such as parent teacher interviews versus what could be used for personal reference to inform instruction.
Winter Semester 2026 Practicum: Final Evaluation
During the second part of my practicum, I focused on the areas of varied assessments and parent communication. Both of these areas had significant growth as I progressed throughout my practicum. Overall, I am very pleased with my growth in every area as I progressed through my practicum and believe that I am ready to take on my own classroom.

Fall Semester 2024 Practicum: Midterm Evaluation
Practicum One Midterm Evaluation Link
For the first half of my first official practicum, I do believe that I had demonstrated a proficient level in various outcomes. I had taken my presence in the classroom/school and everything that I contributed very seriously. I had action plans for each of the competencies and worked very hard to achieve my goals. I strived to do the beat that I could whether it was planning and teaching lessons, establishing relationships, attending staff meetings, and more. Towards the mid point of my practicum I set goals surrounding the areas that I would like to improve. The goals were not set because I was not accomplishing those concepts, but rather that I could improve what I was doing. Please find the goals outlined in my practicum evaluation form. These goals would be my focus during the second half of my practicum.

During the second half of my practicum, I had continued to do my absolute best and give my all with everything. Although, I put a heavier focus on the areas of growth that I outlined in my midterm evaluation. As per the midterm evaluation, these goals were to use more technology and explore different assessment types. I absolutely achieved these goals as seen in the comments on my final evaluation. I created plans of action for both of the goals and worked towards accomplishing them. Please refer to my final evaluation comments to further understand how I accomplished these goals along with all of the other outcomes.

Winter Semester 2024
Field Experience Winter 2024 Evaluation
Throughout the winter semester I believe that I have continued to grow my confidence and have been able to adopt a perspective as an educator as well as a students. By having these two perspectives I was able to efficiently fulfill my obligations as an educator but I also understood any issues within the classroom better as I understood where the students were coming from. I hope to continue growing my confidence as I progress and strive to achieve the goals that I set for each field placement.
Fall Semester 2023
Field Experience Fall 2023 Evaluation
For the first semester, I went in with clear goals (these may be viewed on the teaching competency page). I believe that by having these goals right from the beginning, I had more confidence and showed significant growth from my first year field placement. I was able to manage the classroom more efficiently, I attended staff meetings and grew relationships with a large number of staff members, and s much more.

This winter semester I have been given the opportunity to grow as not only a student, but as a future teacher as well. Throughout the winter semester I began to gain more confidence and knowledge in regards to the functions of the classroom, how to teach lessons, and more. I was able to assist student learning through answering questions, conduct morning meetings (calendar, land acknowledgement), taught my first lesson, and overall began to find my confidence. I have lots to learn but am becoming more comfortable with diving in anywhere that I can.
Fall Semester 2022
Throughout my very first semester in field placement I decided to ease in. This is due to the fact that I wanted to gain an understanding of the students, how the classroom functioned, and how my mentor teacher runs the classroom. As the semester progressed I began to become more involved and did so with more confidence. I was hesitant with certain things such as assisting students with their assignments but as I began to understand how each one learnt, I was able to provide more assistance.
